One day after a weight training session while sitting and chatting with my trainer in her office she says, "Hey Deb! Rob Sims is coming to town. You might want to do a photo shoot with him." I look up at the unbelievable photo of her that Rob took hanging across from where I am sitting and think, “Who wouldn't want to do a photo shoot with the famous Rob Sims?” If you are like me, soaking up anything ‘fitness’ either on the internet or in print you can't help but come across a beautiful shot of a model taken by Rob Sims. I think to myself, “This would be a dream come true!” Driving home, doubts creep in, I am no raving beauty or model. I know I look good and I had been planning to reward my hard work at the gym with a photo shoot to document my dedication, but this is Rob Sims, I mean the ROB SIMS who has shot Katerina Schload and has an incredible amount of photos on the cover of fitness magazines.

I send an email to him, kind of explaining my situation. I mention to him that I am not a model. I'm older but I would love to do a shoot! He responds immediately and before I know it the shoot was scheduled. The shoot starts at 1:30 pm when I meet him and his team of professionals at Katerina's home. I am immediately put at ease with his friendly demeanor and sexy English accent. We go over my wardrobe for the shoot and he is pleasantly surprised at my selection which makes me feel wonderful.

I am introduced to the other models and find out Katerina will be shooting with us. Wow! The chance to watch a pro in action would be a bonus and unbelievable learning experience. Amber Dawn Powell applies my make-up and styles my hair. When I look in the mirror, I can't believe the woman I see reflected back is me. She has worked wonders and created a beauty! We drive out to the Salt Flats and all the time while driving Rob and Katerina are sharing their insights of how to ‘make it’ in the industry and how to use the world's media to promote your business. I feel like a sponge soaking up all their wisdom and ideas.

 

Once out at the Salt Flats, we all take a walk to the perfect photo shoot spot. Amber assists me with my clothing and touches up my makeup. I am really nervous, Rob seemed to sense this and as he leads me he speaks to me, saying, "We're just going over here to take a few photos.” He does just that. Not only does he take photos, but he has a videographer, James Powell there shooting video. Amazingly I now have photos from this shoot as well as a compilation video.

 

More than I ever imagined has come out of this photo session opportunity with Rob. During the time Rob was snapping photos he was very professional in the way he spoke to me or touched me to correct posture in order to get the best possible photo. He mentioned that the best images come from the heart and not strictly from the posing. Before I know it I am done with my first outfit. Then I watch as Katerina poses and Rob shoots, he directs me to stand close so I can observe and learn. I am amazed at her ability to pose and his to capture just the right angle for the shot. The next model poses and I go change into my next outfit.

I pose in 2 more outfits and before I know it my dream has come to a conclusion. As we drive home I listen to more business strategies and insights. So in conclusion, if you are thinking about a professional photo shoot, I highly recommend Rob Sims, you will get the best the industry has to offer at a fantastic bargain for all the services you will receive.
